It was the single greatest day of loss of firefighters this nation has ever seen. In New York City, 343 firefighters gave their lives attempting to rescue others. A few years prior, I moved away from my home town where I had been a firefighter. Seeing all of this tragedy, live and then repeated over and over for weeks, gave me such a feeling of helplessness. I wanted to be there. I wanted to help.<\/p>\n

The events of September 11, 2001, were the precursor of the United States longest wars. While we were looking for the responsible parties, we led campaigns that have killed over 2.4 million Iraqi civilians and 50,000 Afghani civilians. I hope that when people think of or pray, for those who have those beliefs, the people who were killed on 9\/11, they also think of or pray for the millions of people killed in the on-going, senseless wars since the US invaded Iraq on a lie about WMDs. Don’t get me wrong; I absolutely support our uniformed service members. They are not the decision makers. They have stepped up and put their lives on the line to protect our nation but too often, to satisfy the whims of the administration of the day.<\/p>\n

More than 5,600 of our Heroes have been killed and more than 52,300 have been wounded in the two wars I mentioned above.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

We must fight for peace.\u00a0We mus<\/span>t elect those who will use every ounce of diplomacy before putting our sons and daughters in harm’s way. We must work with other countries to resolve problems, to share needed resources, and to help other countries rise up so they, too, can contribute to the success of the world.
