What would you think if a sculptor, in their profile, told you what clay they use, the brand of knives and chisels they use?<\/p>\n

What would you think if a painter, in their profile, listed the brand of paint, the stretched canvas, and the types of brushes they use?<\/p>\n

I know we\u2019ve all seen so-called photographers who announce, in their profile, that they have an XYZ D900 camera with XYZ 28-2000 lens (blah, blah, blah). I\u2019m not talking about posting the technical details on an individual photo post; that\u2019s fine. I\u2019m talking about it front and center on their profile. It\u2019s all an attempt to fool the uninformed or those who think, \u201cwith that camera I could take good pictures as well.\u201c I don\u2019t care if you\u2019ve got the latest and greatest $45,000 Hasselblad or a 5 year old iPhone – a great photo is still a great photo. The camera doesn\u2019t take the picture anymore than the brush paints the artwork. It is knowing how to use the equipment.<\/p>\n

Skill in photography is acquired by practice, not by purchase. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
